About Yolanda

A product leader focused on creating clarity, building alignment, and delivering lasting value.

I'm Yolanda Itseme Idehen, a product leader with more than a decade of experience helping organizations solve complex business and technology challenges through product strategy, digital transformation, and cross-functional leadership.

My career spans enterprise SaaS, AI-enabled products, government digital services, retail, consulting, and e-commerce. Across these environments, I've worked with executives, engineers, designers, business stakeholders, and customers to turn ambiguous problems into practical solutions that create measurable value.

What connects my experience across industries is not a particular technology or product category. It's my approach to leadership: understanding the problem before defining the solution, bringing people together around shared objectives, and building products and organizational capabilities that create lasting impact.

My career journey

From entrepreneurial product development to enterprise product leadership.

My career in product leadership began with entrepreneurship. As Co-Founder and Product Manager of WesternMall, I experienced firsthand what it takes to turn an idea into a working business — shaping the product vision, understanding customer needs, coordinating delivery, and building commercial relationships. I learned that successful products require more than good ideas: they require sound judgment, customer understanding, and disciplined execution.

I subsequently expanded my experience into consulting and large-scale digital transformation. At DWP Digital, I contributed to UK government transformation programmes involving digital services, enterprise integrations, data governance, and strategic technology decisions. At Avenue Impact Consulting, I led product initiatives focused on improving customer experiences, operational performance, and business outcomes.

My experience at Meijer further strengthened my understanding of enterprise data, financial systems, and operational complexity — working across Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, and Engineering to translate business needs and technical dependencies into requirements for automated reporting, system integrations, and more effective decision-making.

Most recently, at SUPERWISE AI, I partnered directly with the Chief Product Officer to lead product execution across an enterprise AI and SaaS portfolio — shaping governed conversational AI experiences, navigating competing platform priorities, strengthening executive visibility, and guiding cross-functional delivery across the portfolio.

Across these experiences, my responsibilities have evolved from defining and delivering product capabilities to influencing strategy, guiding cross-functional execution, supporting executive decisions, and strengthening organizational alignment.

Today, I bring that breadth of experience to complex product challenges, combining strategic perspective with the practical understanding needed to turn ideas into products that customers adopt and organizations can sustain.

My leadership philosophy

Leadership is about creating clarity, developing people, and building lasting value.

I believe exceptional product leadership begins with understanding people, problems, and purpose. Before defining a solution, I seek to understand the customer need, the business context, the assumptions influencing decisions, and the capabilities required to deliver meaningful outcomes.

My approach combines strategic thinking with curiosity and disciplined execution. I believe leaders must be willing to ask difficult questions, challenge assumptions respectfully, make decisions with imperfect information, and communicate clearly enough for others to understand both the direction and the reasoning behind it.

I also believe that sustainable results depend on organizational capability. Products succeed when people have clarity, trust, appropriate autonomy, and the support needed to make sound decisions. I invest in mentoring, cross-functional collaboration, and helping teams strengthen their ability to deliver value.

Ultimately, I measure leadership not only by the products delivered or the targets achieved, but by the quality of decisions made, the people developed, and the lasting impact created for customers and organizations.

“My goal is to leave every product, every team, and every organization stronger than I found it.”

SUPERWISE /chat — making enterprise AI more accessible

From platform complexity to a governed conversational AI experience.

Product Strategy · Enterprise AI · Executive Alignment · Cross-Functional Leadership · Product Execution · Strategic Judgment

The business challenge

SUPERWISE had developed an enterprise AI platform with capabilities for managing and governing AI applications. However, the complexity of the platform made it difficult for prospective customers to understand its value and how they could use it. The strategic challenge was not simply to add more functionality — it was to make the platform's capabilities more accessible through an experience that customers could readily understand and adopt.

The product opportunity

SUPERWISE /chat presented an opportunity to reposition existing platform capabilities through a governed conversational AI workspace. Rather than requiring customers to first understand the underlying platform architecture, /chat could provide a more intuitive entry point for interacting with enterprise AI capabilities while maintaining the governance principles central to the platform.

My leadership contribution

As Senior Product Manager, working directly with the Chief Product Officer, I helped translate this strategic direction into product priorities and coordinated execution across the product and engineering teams. My responsibilities included aligning stakeholders around product objectives, shaping requirements and roadmap priorities, facilitating product leadership discussions, maintaining executive visibility through reporting dashboards, and escalating delivery risks and dependencies. I was accountable for delivery priorities and execution across approximately three engineering teams, including resolving escalations and making go/no-go decisions. Engineering managers owned hiring and performance reviews, with my input. I partnered with Commercial and Customer Success to determine delivery commitments and balanced customer needs, technical constraints, and delivery capacity.

The outcome

SUPERWISE launched /chat as a governed enterprise conversational AI workspace built on its existing platform capabilities. The initiative provided a more accessible way to communicate and experience the platform's value while strengthening executive visibility into product delivery, priorities, and risks. The launch established a customer-facing product experience through which the organization could continue validating adoption and evolving the offering.

Leadership insightThis experience reinforced an important lesson: product strategy is not always about building new capabilities. Sometimes the greater opportunity lies in changing how customers discover, understand, and experience the value of capabilities that already exist.

Modernizing financial reporting & inventory accountability

Connecting retail operations, financial data, and enterprise decision-making.

Enterprise Modernization · Financial Systems · Business Analysis · Stakeholder Alignment · Data & Reporting · Cross-Functional Leadership

The business challenge

Meijer's retail and distribution operations required greater visibility into inventory movement, fulfillment costs, damaged and donated goods, and supplier-related financial recovery. Financial reporting relied heavily on manual spreadsheets, calculations, and reconciliation processes. This created operational inefficiencies and made it difficult to consistently connect financial information with activity across stores, distribution centers, and suppliers. The broader challenge was to strengthen financial accountability while reducing dependence on fragmented manual reporting processes.

The product opportunity

The initiative focused on modernizing shipping, fulfillment, and financial reporting capabilities through more structured business processes, system integrations, and automated reporting. By connecting operational information with financial business rules, the organization could improve visibility into inventory discrepancies, fulfillment costs, supplier claims, and financial performance. The opportunity extended beyond replacing spreadsheets — it involved establishing more consistent information and workflows to support financial decisions and operational accountability.

My leadership contribution

As Lead Software Analyst through Randstad Digital, I worked with Finance, Operations, distribution stakeholders, and technical delivery teams to translate complex business requirements into actionable software specifications. I facilitated requirements workshops, analyzed business processes, clarified financial calculations and reconciliation rules, and documented requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria. I also supported backlog prioritization, stakeholder alignment, and user acceptance testing by helping teams establish a shared understanding of the business rules and expected outcomes. A key aspect of my contribution was identifying missing requirements and challenging assumptions before they created downstream delivery risks.

The outcome

The initiative supported the transition from spreadsheet-dependent financial processes toward more automated reporting and structured operational data. My work helped establish clearer requirements, validated business rules, and acceptance criteria that supported consistent delivery and stakeholder agreement. The resulting capabilities strengthened the foundation for financial reporting, inventory accountability, and supplier cost recovery.

Leadership insightEnterprise modernization succeeds when technology decisions reflect how the business actually operates. This experience reinforced the importance of understanding the relationships between financial rules, operational workflows, data quality, and stakeholder decisions before translating business needs into software requirements.

Challenging assumptions to create strategic value

Applying strategic judgment to enterprise data migration decisions.

Strategic Judgment · Data Governance · Cost Avoidance · Requirements Challenge · Digital Transformation · Stakeholder Alignment

The business challenge

During a digital transformation initiative at the UK's Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), the organization was evaluating requirements for migrating historical data into a modernized technology environment. Migrating large volumes of legacy information introduced significant cost, complexity, and data governance considerations. The proposed approach required careful examination of which information was necessary to support the future service and its operational requirements.

The product opportunity

Rather than treating historical data migration as an automatic requirement, there was an opportunity to evaluate the business value, operational necessity, and governance implications of retaining and transferring legacy information. This created a basis for a more focused migration strategy that could reduce unnecessary expenditure while supporting the objectives of the modernization programme.

My leadership contribution

As a Technical Business Analyst working within DWP Digital, I challenged assumptions about the need to migrate historical data and helped bring greater scrutiny to the proposed requirements. I worked with stakeholders to examine the business justification for retaining legacy information, consider data governance and privacy implications, and distinguish essential operational requirements from assumptions carried forward from existing systems. My contribution helped inform a more proportionate approach to the migration decision, connecting technical requirements with business value and responsible data management.

The outcome

The reassessment contributed to a decision that avoided approximately £5 million in projected migration costs. Beyond the financial impact, the initiative demonstrated the value of challenging requirements early, particularly when proposed technology investments carry substantial cost and long-term operational implications.

Leadership insightStrong product and technology leadership is not measured solely by what an organization builds. It also involves recognizing when a proposed investment does not create sufficient value, asking the questions others may overlook, and helping stakeholders make informed decisions about what not to build or migrate.

Avenue Impact Consulting

Turning operational complexity into measurable business value

Improving payment workflows, operational performance, and customer experience.

Product Strategy · Business Transformation · Operational Efficiency · Customer Experience · Stakeholder Alignment · Cross-Functional Execution

The business challenge

Organizations navigating digital transformation often face fragmented business processes, inefficient workflows, and customer experiences that do not adequately support their operational goals. At Avenue Impact Consulting, I worked on product initiatives aimed at addressing these challenges, including opportunities to improve payment processing, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction. The challenge was to connect business requirements with practical product improvements while balancing stakeholder expectations, technical feasibility, and delivery priorities.

The product opportunity

The opportunity was to simplify workflows, improve how business processes were supported by technology, and prioritize product capabilities that would create measurable operational and customer value. This required understanding existing processes, identifying sources of friction, and translating improvement opportunities into clear product requirements and delivery priorities.

My leadership contribution

As Product Manager, I worked across business and technical stakeholders to define product requirements, align priorities, and coordinate the delivery of improvements. I facilitated discussions to clarify business objectives and customer needs, translated those insights into actionable product requirements, and supported cross-functional teams in making informed delivery decisions. My focus was on ensuring that product initiatives addressed meaningful business problems rather than simply introducing additional functionality.

The outcome

The initiatives contributed to measurable improvements in business and customer outcomes, including:

  • 30% improvement in payment processing efficiency
  • 20% improvement in operational efficiency
  • 15% improvement in customer satisfaction

These results demonstrate the value of connecting product priorities with operational performance and customer outcomes.

Leadership insightEffective product leadership requires a clear understanding of how business processes, technology, and customer experiences influence one another. This experience reinforced the importance of identifying the right operational problems, building alignment around priorities, and measuring success through outcomes rather than delivery activity alone.

WesternMall · E-Commerce

Building a digital marketplace from concept to launch

Turning a cross-border commerce opportunity into a customer-facing digital product.

0→1 Product Development · Entrepreneurship · Product Strategy · Commercial Growth · Customer Experience · Product Execution

The business challenge

Cross-border commerce presented opportunities to connect customers with products and merchants beyond their immediate markets. However, creating a viable digital marketplace required more than establishing an online storefront. The challenge was to understand customer needs, develop a compelling marketplace proposition, coordinate commercial and operational requirements, and create a digital experience that could support customer engagement and business growth.

The product opportunity

WesternMall was established to address this opportunity through a digital marketplace connecting customers with cross-border shopping options. Building the product from the ground up required defining the customer proposition, prioritizing essential marketplace capabilities, and developing an experience that could support commercial activity and customer adoption.

My leadership contribution

As Co-Founder and Product Manager, I helped shape WesternMall's product vision, strategy, and development from concept through launch. My responsibilities included identifying customer needs, defining product requirements, prioritizing marketplace functionality, coordinating product development, and supporting commercial relationships and growth initiatives. Working in an entrepreneurial environment required balancing customer expectations, limited resources, technical feasibility, and commercial priorities while making decisions necessary to bring the product to market.

The outcome

WesternMall successfully launched its digital marketplace, establishing a customer-facing product and a foundation for commercial growth. Product and commercial initiatives contributed to:

  • 25% increase in sales
  • 35% increase in customer engagement

The experience demonstrated how product strategy, customer understanding, and disciplined execution can translate an entrepreneurial concept into a functioning business.

Leadership insightBuilding a product from zero requires a different level of ownership. Every decision connects directly to customer value, operational feasibility, and commercial sustainability. WesternMall shaped my understanding of product leadership by reinforcing the importance of customer discovery, prioritization, adaptability, and balancing strategic ambition with the practical realities of execution.

Let's connect

Meaningful conversations create opportunities for meaningful impact. I'm always interested in connecting with product leaders, executives, and organizations working to solve complex challenges and create lasting customer and business value.

Whether you're exploring product leadership opportunities, discussing enterprise platforms and digital transformation, or exchanging perspectives on product strategy and organizational leadership, I'd welcome the conversation.

My focus: Principal Product Manager and Director of Product opportunities, with a long-term ambition to become a Chief Product Officer.
